Power and beauty are the two main concepts in their music, and fire and water the contrary elements that are symbolized by their name. L'HAM DE FOC (Fish hook of fire), from Valencia, are no longer an exotic musical phenomenon for specialists but a well sounding name within the international worldmusic scene and a timeless musical concept, that develops its strong character without taking care of current fashion.

Their compositions have the ability to transform music for specialists into an understandable but profound music. L'HAM DE FOC´s audience is as diverse as their instruments and influences: with their concerts and CD’s, apart from the standard worldmusic/folk audience, they have also reached listeners coming from classical music, Rock/Pop, Gothic/Wave and medieval music.

The first L´HAM DE FOC home made demos (back in early 1998) reflect Mara Aranda and Efrén López´s desire to explore musical territories less touched than those they had covered to the date with their previous formations. Through one of those demos they were selected by the INJUVE (Spanish Youth Institute) to do a tour throughout Spain during the spring of 1998.

Soon afterwards they recorded their first album, U (meaning "one" in catalan language) in studio with the Madrid based company Sonifolk, which was released in 1999. The disc was praised as one of the best albums of the year by spanish radio programs. It was distributed in Spain, France, Holland, Belgium and Greece, obtaining very good reviews in all those countries. It was presented in music festivals such as: Folk Segovia, Castillo de Ainsa, Castell de Dénia, Mestival d’Elx, Folk Cartagena, Folk Rural (Vallfogona del Ripollés), Strictly Worlwide Music (Zaragoza), Tradicionàrius (Barcelona), Terra de Trobadors (Castelló d'Empúries), Girona Folk, Festival de Cedeira, Encontros Musicais da Tradiçao Europeia-Musical encounters of European Tradition (Guimaraes-Portugal), Mare Nostrum (València)...

After some time of learning and research in Crete Island, they went back to the recording studio in August 2001 in order to record their second album Cançó de Dona i Home (Woman and Man´s song) , again edited and distributed by Sonifolk and once more fully produced by Efrén. This second album meant a first international surprise, being the only european worldmusic album that reached a position within the Top 10 of the annual WMCE charts list. The album was presented, among others, in: Noves Músiques Acústiques-New Acoustic Musics series (Barcelona), Sete Sois, Sete Lúas (Tavernes de la Valldigna), Iberia@Huesca.Folk (Huesca), FolkCuéllar (Cuéllar, Segovia), Etnosur (Alcalá la Real, Jaén), Paupaterres (Tàrrega, Lleida), Giramón       (Espai Moma, València), Ceutí Auditorium (Murcia), Festival Altres Músiques-Other Musics Festival (Benicàssim, Castelló), Tribus Ibéricas (Santiago de Compostela), "Los Conciertos de Radio 3" (TVE)-Radio 3 concerts, National Spanish Television and in Mestival in Elx, in collaboration here with the prestigious Greek musician and researcher Petros Tambouris and his band.

Once again the band took a break of three years to release Cor de Porc (Galileo-MC, 2005), that means Pig heart. Before entering the studio they spent six month in Thessaloniki (Greece) to study the music of the Ottoman Empire that is still vivid and being played on the Ud in Turkey, Greece and Armenia. In this album we can enjoy the collaboration of the new band member Osvaldo Jorge, who plays the Indian percussion: instruments like Tabla, Kanjira or Ghatam. Masud Naderi (from Iran), on the Tombak. Another new band member, Hristos Barbas, on the Ney and Kaval. Pantelis Pavlidis on the Lyra from the Black Sea and Nikos Tzannis on the Lyra from Crete. The German Ralf Eickmeier on the Lyra and the Rebec. From Spain they invited Josep Maria Ribelles (harp), Maria Laffitte (voice) and Vanesa Muela (archaic and popular percussion like spoons, pots or a wooden table). L'HAM DE FOC produced 12 songs with a delicate selection of instruments, melodies and rhythms that make their music so unique.
