In 1990, Toni Torregrossa, an outstanding personality in the field of Valencian music created Urbàlia Rurana with a clear objective of making music of Valencian and Mediterranean roots; with this idea in mind he has performed in countries as Germany, England, Belgium, The Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla, Catalonia, The Basque Country, France, Galicia, The Balearic Islands, Italy, The Rioja, Luxembourg, Murcia, Navarra, The Valencian Country, Portugal and Switzerland.

The history of their records started “A la Banda de migjorn” in 1992 when the critics outlined the energetic rhythm of their themes and voices; this critic gave them the prize granted by RNE to the best musical arrangements; later on they published “Rom i cafè”, in 1994, a lighter and a record for the radio; "Folk nou" in 1996 was the collaboration of the group with another group called Primera Nota (a live recording with twelve musicians ). "Sarau Mediterrani" was recorded live in 1999; finally "Territoris Amables", in 2003, with the Italian musician Maurizio Martinotti (it was one of the 20 best European records according to the Internet Magazine called Traditional Arranged). Urbàlia Rurana also forms part of the production of Cante delle Terre del Riso (Songs from Rice fields) a co-production with Italy, France and Catalonia.
